  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp sea salt
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 2 tbsp fresh herbs (such as rosemary or thyme), chopped
  • 1 ¼ cups buttermilk

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, cheddar cheese, and herbs until well combined.
  3. Gradually stir in the buttermilk until a sticky dough forms.
  4. Transfer the dough onto a floured surface and gently knead for about five folds. Shape into a round loaf about an inch thick.
  5. Place the dough on the prepared baking sheet and score an ‘X’ on top.
  6. Bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown and hollow-sounding when tapped on the bottom. Let cool slightly before slicing.
