Ingredients

  • 1 packet (2 ¼ tsp) active dry yeast
  • ¾ cup warm water (110°F/43°C)
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • ¼ cup cinnamon-sugar mixture (½ cup sugar + 2 tbsp cinnamon)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix warm water and yeast; let sit for 5 minutes until frothy. In another bowl, combine flour, sugar, and salt.
  2. Gradually add the yeast mixture to the dry ingredients to form a dough.
  3. Knead on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth. Place in a greased bowl, cover with a towel, and let rise for about 1 hour until doubled.
  4. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Punch down dough and divide into equal pieces; roll each into long ropes and twist into pretzel shapes.
  5. Boil water in a pot; add baking soda. Boil pretzels one at a time for 30 seconds before placing them on parchment-lined baking sheets.
  6. Brush each pretzel with melted butter and generously sprinkle with the cinnamon-sugar mixture. Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
