Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet (2 ¼ tsp) active dry yeast
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup whole milk, warmed
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted (divided)
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp fresh brewed coffee

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine warm milk and sugar; sprinkle yeast on top. Let sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. In another bowl, whisk together flour and salt. Add melted butter to the yeast mixture, then gradually mix in the dry ingredients until combined.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 7 minutes until smooth. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for about an hour or until doubled in size.
  4. Punch down the dough and roll it out into a rectangle. Spread melted butter over the surface, sprinkle with cinnamon sugar, cut into strips, and tie into knots.
  5. Place knots on a lined baking sheet, let rise for another 30 minutes while preheating the oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake for about 20 minutes until golden brown.
  6. For the icing, mix powdered sugar with brewed coffee until smooth. Drizzle over warm knots before serving.
