Instructions
- Preheat oven to 300°F (150°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a mixing bowl, beat room temperature egg whites until frothy. Gradually add granulated sugar while whipping until stiff peaks form.
- Sift together almond flour and powdered sugar in another bowl; gently fold into the meringue until smooth.
- Transfer batter to a piping bag fitted with a round tip and pipe heart shapes onto prepared baking sheets. Tap gently to release air bubbles.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes until shells are set but soft inside; cool completely before removing from parchment.
- Fill one macaron shell with buttercream filling and sandwich it with another shell.
