  • 1 cup crushed Oreo cookies (plus extra for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line two round 9-inch cake pans with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, mix sugar and vegetable oil until combined. Add eggs one at a time, then mix in buttermilk and vanilla.
  4. Stir in red food coloring until desired color is achieved.
  5. Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.
  6. Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans and bake for 25-30 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Allow cakes to cool completely before frosting with cream cheese frosting and topping with crushed Oreos.
