Description

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet (2 ¼ tsp) active dry yeast
  • ¾ cup warm water (110°F)
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • Coarse sea salt for topping

Instructions

  1. Prepare the dough: In a bowl, combine warm water and sugar. Sprinkle yeast on top and let sit for 5 minutes until frothy. Gradually mix in flour and salt until a dough forms.
  2. Knead: Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 5 minutes until smooth.
  3. Let rise: Place in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour until doubled in size.
  4. Shape bites: Punch down the dough, divide into small pieces, roll into ropes, and cut into bite-sized pieces.
  5. Boil & bake: Boil water with baking soda, then boil each piece for 30 seconds before transferring to a parchment-lined baking sheet. Sprinkle with coarse salt.
  6. Bake: Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C) and bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.
